We are currently in the process of forming four new ‘Task and Finish’ groups – each focused on one of our priorities; each taking on the delivery of projects that will make a real and lasting difference – and we are looking for more local people to get involved [see our Call to Action].
We’ve already seen how effective Villages Together can be in helping to improve our community – from fun events – like Puriton’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic or the Family Fun weekend at Woolavington Playing Field – to supporting local groups, such as the local WI or the Woolavington Hand Bell Ringers, or providing funding for young people, including the 1st Puriton Guides memorable trip to London (with a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament) or Woolavington Youth Theatre’s costumes, stage sets, and equipment.
Our Big Local has also helping to fund larger projects, such as the very successful Dream Scheme programme and the new Pump Track at the Puriton Sports Centre. Villages Together has also helped to support our community’s response to Covid-19 – whether contributing funds for the cold meal service in Puriton or granting funds to enable the Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides to continue meeting virtually.
All of these things we’ve been able achieve because of the input of local people, and – if you’d like to help – there will be many more opportunities to take part over the coming months.
We will keep you updated.
